Most people think back pain comes from lifting heavy things. While that can be true, sitting at a desk or in a car for a long time also causes back problems. With more people working from home on computers, this is becoming a bigger issue. How do I know this?

I sit at my desk for hours upon hours. Yesterday, I spent 10 straight hours working, dealing with scheduled and emergency conference calls, work problems that I alone could resolve, and beginning of the month items.

I noticed when I finally got off my duff that I couldn’t bend at all. Which was not fun, considering I dropped my phone when I got up. I had to ask my son to come in and grab it. He gave me a look that only a 17 year old with no health issues can give to someone that is unfortunately on the wrong side of 50. Yay, youth.

Luckily, there are ways to prevent or reduce back pain at home. Here is some information to help you out,

Can most back pain be treated at home?

Yes, usually. But it’s important to think about all factors before deciding if you need a doctor. Some people have chronic back pain that flares up sometimes. They often know what helps them and can handle it at home.
